A Note from the Executive Director

At OAK C, Together We Tee, we believe that opportunity and access can change everything.

Golf has long been a sport rooted in tradition, but too often, access to the game has been limited by cost, culture, and connection. Our mission is to help change that. By creating space for Black and Brown youth and their families to engage with the game in a welcoming and supportive environment, we are not only teaching golf, but we are also building confidence, community, and opportunity.

In partnership with Manchester Country Club, OAK C is proud to offer a unique 6-week instructional program designed to introduce youth and their parent or guardian to the fundamentals of the game. Each family will be paired with a dedicated MCC golf pro who will serve as both instructor and mentor, helping guide them through the basics of golf and the values it instills, discipline, patience, focus, and fun!

We are committed to removing barriers to entry. That means every participating child will receive their own set of golf clubs, balls, tees, shoes, and apparel, all of which will be theirs to keep upon successful completion of the program. And when the final week arrives, participants will put their skills to the test in an end-of-league tournament, followed by a celebratory banquetcomplete with awards, shared stories, and a sense of accomplishment that cannot be measured in strokes alone.

Every child who completes the program will also be awarded a complimentary Junior Membership to the Manchester Country Club because we want this experience to be just the beginning.

At its core, OAK C is about more than golf. It's about giving families in Manchester Connecticut, an opportunity they may not have had otherwise. It's about showing our youth that they belong in every space. And it is about planting the seeds of inclusion and mentorship that can grow far beyond the course.
